Title: The Heist
Author: Boxxsaltz
Pairing: Yoona/Yuri
Rating: R
Summary: There was no job and no money worth the kind of brokenness Yoona endured ever again…except maybe this once.

Part I

Bodies slammed against the wall. Scruff scratched against Yoona’s face as lips attacked hers in a rough kiss.

She wished she could say this was the kicker of every night. But having men want to stick more into your panties other than bills grew stale after the first day of employment and Yoona was not the self-medicating type to take hits and shots to get through nights of being some joe’s kinky fantasy. She found other ways to top off the night. Other perks like the thick package of leather she felt on this man’s person.

Now that was a bulge she could get wet over.

Yoona drew back, grin stretched on her lips as she sauntered over to the low table in one of the back private rooms. They weren’t meant for sex, but whatever the bosses turned a blind eye to was legal for them.

“Drink?” she batted her lashes.

The man wiped off a smudge of her lipstick from the corner of his mouth. “One.”

Taking the top from a bottle, she poured scotch into a glass and offered it to the patron. His glassy eyes stayed on her, watching her sway over to him with the bottle tipped at her lips. He seemed impressed, eyebrows lifted and teeth showing as she drank straight from the heavy bottle.

Yoona pressed the rim of the glass to his lips, body slinking up against his. Her other hand smoothed down along his stomach to the hardness felt through the front of his pants. The man sighed as Yoona began to run her hand up and down against him, cup tilting back ever so lightly for the drink to seep passed his lips.

"Bottoms up," she muttered against his neck.

Alcohol dropped down the sides of his mouth as he hurried to swallow it all. Grabbing his tie, she pulled him closer, bodies flush and hands groping. Fingers tugged at the base of her skirt, pulling it up and up until she could feel his hard length against the thin fabric of her thong. She rolled her hips, grinding into him. He moaned. Yoona held back a gag. She only had to wait. It wouldn't take much longer for the drug to settle in.

Sloppy, wet kisses smeared on Yoona's face and she reached down passed belt and buttons to grip the prize inside. The man groaned as she squeezed, sweaty face growing redder and redder as she stroked him, once, twice-

Dead weight fell against her and Yoona pushed at broad shoulders, sending his limp frame to the ground.

"Asshole."

Pouring scotch over her hands, she cleaned them on his pants and went to work, picking and poking. Wallet, keys, phone, and identity fell into her hands. She stuffed it all into the pockets of the man's suit jacket that she threw over her shoulders and left the room.

The familiarity of the club’s smoky hallway enveloped her. Fellow dancers wanting to earn an extra buck by taking the chance to bone one of the customers slithered by her with a hungry puppy strung along. One of them, a stray, stepped in her path, stopping her from making a clean getaway.

“Time for one more?” they asked.

Yoona flashed a sweet smile. “Next time.”

Shoulders squared, keeping her from leaving. “I don’t like waiting.”

“Rainche-”

Hands grabbed her tight and bruising, one around her mouth to gag the scream ready to erupt and the other forcing her into the opened door of another private room. She stumbled in with a shove that sent her to the floor. The distinct sound of metal clicking caught her ears and she pulled up on her knees to see a gun pointed straight at her head from the hands of the shady customer.

On second observation, Yoona could see clearly. This was no man. It was a woman draped in disguise. Now that was more of Yoona’s fancy. If she hadn’t been so rude, she would’ve given her the time of night. Not that weapons play was her thing, but she’d make an exception for-

“Do you have time now?”

Yoona jerked her head to the voice.

On the couch sat another woman in a chic, black skirt suit tailored perfectly to fit her thin, petite frame. Dark stockings lined with the crisscrossing patterning of fishnets encased toned legs and black hair swept to one side led down into deep cleavage.

Yoona found herself glancing at it before she brought her gaze back up. The woman’s lips drew a sick, inviting grin that turned her eyes into soft crescents. Yoona usually would've fallen for it, but right now it was giving her an acute sense of unease. She could’ve sworn she’d seen that smile before.

“You have ten seconds to tell me who you are before I call for security.”

A husky voice filled the room thick as cigarette smoke. “My name is Tiffany Hwang. I’m here to hire you.”

Yoona scoffed. “If you can’t already tell, I have a job.”

“I have a better one.”

“And I’m still on the clock,” she deadpanned. “So get this over with quickly before I charge you for running up my meter.”

With the slightest nod of Tiffany’s head, something dropped from the hands of the tall woman holding the gun. Yoona only needed to glance down to see that it was the things she'd just stolen from the man. Another pickpocket. She was starting to like this giant a little less.

Tiffany leaned forward, elbow on her crossed knee and chin propped onto her fist. “No one likes a petty thief.”

"No one likes a tattletale.”

Tiffany’s laugh was airy and humorless. "You’re wasting your time on this. What I can offer you is more than what's in that pile and thousands more than the account you're about to siphon. It's everything someone like you ever dreamed and more."

"Who am I to care?"

“You’re an Im.”

Yoona kept her face from giving away her surprise. To the other girls she was a Cho and to the customers she was Doe Eyes. The only ones who knew her real name was her family, the one friend closest to her, and the government building in charge of holding her real personal records that weren’t forged.

“So is one-sixth of the population,” Yoona spat.

Tiffany wasn’t eating her bullshit. “You're Im Yoona. Daughter of Im Eunseong, a master thief, and safecracker, who's guidebook lies nowhere else in this world other than in your head.”

“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”

Tiffany sighed. From her large purse she pulled a tablet and turned it on. The screen lit up, shining all too familiar pictures in front of Yoona’s face.

"Eunseung was clever. He had authorities running in circles and scratching their heads with each hit. But others in our line of work aren't easily fooled. Your father got himself into a bind. One that cost him his wife's life and soon his own.”

Yoona glared from her parent’s obituaries up to Tiffany’s face. “He wanted the best for us.”

“Heartwarming,” Tiffany hummed in condescending. “Treason is the worst sort of offense for our kind and he paid for it. As an accomplice, you should’ve gone down with him but no one would suspect his daughter. After all, you made the world believe you were gone, too.”

An article depicting her death in a ferry accident on a school outing switched to the image of their entire family on the screen. She hadn’t seen that picture in a long time. Yoona blinked away from it.

“What do you want?”

Tiffany stored her tablet away and waved a hand. The gunmen lowered her arm but stayed close.

“We're willing to cut you twenty percent of the reward if you help us pull off a heist of one of the biggest and most secretive international business trades that is in the works right now.”

“What is it?”

“That information is classified unless you agree.”

Of course. Yoona rolled her eyes. “Why would I help you?”

“Because we know who killed your father.”

“So do I.”

Tiffany’s voice was quiet and steady. “Don’t settle on stories you know are lies. You owe yourself more than that.”

Yoona narrowed her eyes. The panic inside of her was turning her gut into knots. This woman knew too much - far too much. To make a clean sweep, reforge a new identity, and pack up everything dear to her would take too long and would be of no use if she was trying to evade someone like Tiffany. Yoona knew her kind in the business. They were all know and connections and knew exactly how to use them without breaking a single nail.

She weighed her options. The gunmen was slender but tall. The suit covering her was ill-fitting, hiding way whatever else she was packing. Then there was Tiffany. She never lost her guard. Even if Yoona got away, she’d be caught quickly. And if they were serious, there was probably a car outside and ready.

She caved.

“How do I know you’re not bluffing?”

A briefcase picked off the floor opened on TIffany’s lap to show stacks of bills. Half of them were taken out and put into a bag that was dropped at her knees.

“That is for the time you have given us now,” said Tiffany. “If you agree to the job, the other half plus twenty percent is yours.”

Yoona sneered. “I’m not interested in your money.”

“Evidence would say otherwise.” Tiffany glanced down at the wallet she’d stolen.

Yoona’s jaw clenched.

A smirk played on those pretty, pink lips as she stood. “Have a good night, Miss Im. I hope to hear from you shortly.”

-/-/-/-

Yoona peeked through the crack of the front door, checking for any movement in the apartment before she slipped inside. The bag of money bounced against her side as she slipped through the hallways to her room where she stuffed it beneath her bed. She’d deal with it later.

A business card to a law firm fell from from her pocket as she stood up. Yoona knew the business must’ve been a decoy when Tiffany placed it into her hands and told her to give the fax extension a call when she was ready.

Kicking it under her dresser, Yoona leaned out of her room to check on the one across the hall. It was left open just enough for her to see the sleeping figure inside.

Yoona walked in beneath the glow of a night light shining from a plug on the wall onto a peaceful face and delicate hands fallen away from a book split open over a slow moving chest. An empty glass of water sat beside a tiny cup of pills on the nightstand.

Yoona sighed. “Seohyun.”

She hated nights when she missed Seohyun awake. Tiffany made her an hour later than usual. Dinner was skipped in the rush to get home but still she missed her window.

Plucking the book away, Yoona went to grab the glass and pills when Seohyun stirred in her sleep.

“Yoong?”

“It’s me, it’s me. Hey.”

She smiled down at half opened eyes, puffy from sleep. Fingers brushed at wispy strands of hair on her forehead, moving them away. For once Seohyun didn’t look absolutely worn out and exhausted. It made Yoona hate getting back later all the more.

“When’d you get in?”

“A few minutes ago. You forgot to take your medicine.”

Seohyun’s nose wrinkled. “I must’ve fallen asleep.”

“Did you eat?”

She shook her head. “I wanted to wait for you.”

Yoona held her tongue. They both knew the importance of Seohyun needing to do both, but she wouldn’t scold her tonight. Not when they’d had a good week void of too many episodes and complications. If she wanted to, she’d look at Tiffany’s offer as a blessing. The money she was already given would do them well for a while if she agreed or not.

“I’m going to wash up and make something to eat, okay?”

“You don’t have to.”

“Twenty minutes.” Yoona kissed her on the forehead and left the room.

She rushed through a shower, nearly forgetting to wash out the conditioner in her hair.Toweling down, she tugged on soft, cotton pajamas before taking to the kitchen to find a packet of ramen in the pantry. It was going on half past one. Yoona wasn’t usually hungry this late, but the seafood smell from the packet seasoning was making her stomach grumble.

“Can you bring some water?” Seohyun called from the other room.

Tray of food in hand, Yoona made her way into Seohyun’s room. “Did you think I’d forget?”

“You never forget anything.”

“And never forget it.”

Seohyun laughed into her glass as she took a gulp to down her pills. Once she was done, Yoona handed her chopsticks and climbed into bed beside her to share the meal. They ate it quietly to the tune of slurps and chews until there was nothing left but broth. Yoona drank some and let Seohyun have the rest, leaving the pot empty.

Too lazy to take everything to the kitchen, Yoona placed the tray onto the night table and hunkered deeper into the mattress. Seohyun’s heat beside her matched the satisfied warmth deep in her belly. The late meal was making her sleepy and her eyes began to droop when a head fell against her shoulder.

“Thank you,” Seohyun muttered.

Yoona tensed. Thank you’s from Seohyun made her uncomfortable. They made her feel as if Seohyun saw herself as a burden despite how many times Yoona told her otherwise.

There were bonds much stronger than family, and Seohyun was that. Because the backstabbing that took her father took her best friend’s as well, and it was a secret she’d take to her grave as long as it kept Seohyun safe.

“Take care of her, Yoongie.”

They were the words of Seohyun’s father when she was eight and Seohyun was seven and she put that little boy who would tease them on the playground on his ass when he made her Seohyun cry. Little did Yoona know, she would hold onto those words into her adult years. Through moves, through heartache, through sicknesses, test results, sketchy jobs, and doctor visits. She held on through it all.

Yoona kissed the top of Seohyun’s head. “Sleep.”

A hand sought out hers and Yoona twined their fingers together beneath the blankets.

For Seohyun, she’d do it. For Seohyun, she’d do anything. She promised. But even more than that, Seohyun was the last thing of her past she had left and she wouldn't let her slip away that easily.

-/-/-/-

Yoona had to check for herself.

She left a note for Seohyun letting her know her sliced peaches and grapes were waiting for her in the fridge beside a nearly empty carton of almond milk in the fridge she would replace. She knew Seohyun would get up, shower, and nibble on it while curled up with a book on the sofa most the morning without any worry of her whereabouts. It gave her just enough time.

Taking her bike, she entered the address of the law firm into her GPS and pedaled off in the direction. It took thirty minutes that left her knuckles chafed from the cold breeze that sliced at her as she rode.

The place sat near a police station and a skip over from the larger of the few public libraries around the city. Through the front glass, everything seemed normal. Associates in business casual helped a customer at the front desk while another answered the phone and a gruff looking man exited to climb into his car parked at the meter.

Yoona read off the card again. Maybe she was being suspicious for no reason.

Pushing off, she took a detour back around that would lead her to a small market on the way to the apartment. Coasting down a hill, she watched cars cross each other along the street below. Memory struck her so hard she almost lost her balance.

Her dad told her to take the long way home that night. Told her to cut through the Seo’s neighborhood and,

“Invite Juhyun over.”

Yoona was terrified, but she listened. She always listened to her father. She took off as alarms and sirens sounded, darting headlights into an alleyway where she hid. She was about to jump up and make for the other end of the fence, but the sound of wailing horns drew her curiosity back to the street.

The car her dad got into that Seohyun’s father was driving was in the middle of the intersection when it happened.

They came from both sides, two cars speeding through lights right into them.

Yoona knew they were gone on impact. There was nothing she could do but run.

With tears in her eyes, she ran and ran and ran.

Seohyun never passed up a sleepover, and when it came to Yoona, she never needed to ask for permission. They’d call her dad later and tell him.

Yoona knew he wouldn’t pick up.

They held each other through the night until cops showed at the door.

“Ma’am?”

Yoona blinked. The cashier was staring at her, holding her change. Apologizing, she grabbed her bag of almond milk and snacks and left.

Heartache like that wasn’t worth the consequence.

“Run, Yoona. Don’t look back.”

Now she knew the dangers of not completely listening to him, for some nightmares could never be cured.

Bags hanging from her wrists, Yoona clutched the handles and walked home.

She couldn’t put Seohyun through that kind of pain. Not a second time. There was no job and no money worth that kind of brokenness ever again.

-/-/-/-

“Shoes!” Seohyun called followed by a cough.

Yoona rolled her eyes as she toed off her sneakers and left them at the door. The smells of a dinner cooking wafted through the air. Yoona’s stomach growled. Seohyun’s cooking always made her hungry, and just knowing Seohyun was feeling well enough to be cooking made her all the happier.

“What’s in the pot?” arms wrapping around her from behind, Yoona nuzzled her nose into the side of Seohyun’s neck.

“Your favorite.” She giggled, shrinking away from the ticklish feeling. “You smell like a tree.”

“I just came back from a walk.”

“Where?” Seohyun titled her head to look at her but Yoona hid her face enough so she wouldn’t see her puffy, red eyes. Seohyun had enough to worry about. Yoona wouldn’t add her own misfortune to it.

“The park. I brought drinks and dessert.” Pulling away, she held up two popsicles before putting them into the freezer and stored the milk into the fridge. “Since you’re making lunch, I’ll do dinner tonight.”

“Okay.” Coughing again, Seohyun cleared her throat. “Shower. I’ll be finished when you’re done.”

The day washed off of her under a cold stream. Yoona took her time, letting the cool water rain down on her face to take away the swelling from her eyes and sort out her thoughts.

She would deposit Tiffany’s money little at a time. They would be okay for now. Between the club and the few odd jobs she picked up now and again, she’d saved enough to support them both and keep Seohyun from having to work in her condition.

The offer from Tiffany was enticing. It would ease Yoona’s strain to make sure there was always food in the fridge and medication for Seohyun every month. It would keep away the stress of multiple doctor visits. It would be just what they needed for Seohyun to get the best and proper treatment she could benefit from. But at what cost?

“You didn’t tell me the laundry was full,” Yoona yelled walking from the washroom, towel rubbing in her damp hair. “I’ll take everything to the washers with- Seohyun?”

Bounding across the room, her knees hit the floor beside the stove where Seohyun laid sprawled out, skin a ghostly pale.

“Seohyun!” Yoona shook her. Heavy eyes split open just barely before they rolled back and closed again. “Seohyun!”

-/-/-/-

The wait was always the worst.

Yoona paced until too many worried eyes glanced her way and she finally sat down. Her knee bounced the entire time, eyes shooting back and forth to the clock on the wall, logging the time. She didn’t understand. Seohyun was doing so well. For a week, she was doing fine. The report from the doctor in the previous weeks was hopeful.

The doors to ICU slid open. Yoona was instantly on her feet when she recognized the nurse who she talked to when they came in. He made his way to her, face drawn stoic and practiced.

“How is she?”

He looked her straight in the eye, voice neutral and indecipherable. “She’s still out but she’s stable. We have her on oxygen now.”

“Do you know when she’ll be awake?”

He shook his head.

“Will she be able to go home?”

“We’re in the process of assessing the extent of her condition. We’d like to keep her overnight.”

Overnight. Even if Seohyun was in the care of the hospital, she wouldn’t leave her alone. The temptation to skip out on the club and stay with her for the night was strong.

“Why overnight?"

His lips tightened. “It doesn’t look good.”

Yoona's blood went cold. She didn't know why his words surprised her. Of all the visits and reports, they told that Seohyun would get worse without the proper treatment needed. There was no comfort just knowing she was on a wait list. Not when determination happened every day.

“Can I see her?”

He nodded. “We’ve just moved her.”

Getting the exact room number, Yoona hurried for the elevator and punched the button for the fourth floor. She weaved past a nurse pushing a woman in a wheelchair and around a corner until she found the proper room. Sliding back the door, she let herself in.

Some color had come back to Seohyun’s cheeks, but she still looked pale. It may have been the gown or the thick blankets, but Seohyun looked small and fragile. She didn’t remember her looking so thin and withering. She didn’t look as healthy as she was once. How had Yoona missed it? How had she allowed it to get so bad?

She touched her lips to the cool skin of Seohyun’s forehead.

“We’re going to get you better."

-/-/-/-

Dropping to her knees, Yoona fished the business card from beneath her dresser and sat on the bed. Legs crossed beneath her, she turned the smooth cardstock in her fingers. The name at the bottom read Stephanie Young. On the back Tiffany scribbled in her instructions: Ask for the Chairman.

Was it that easy?

Yoona dropped her head into her hands. She said goodbye to all of that after the death of her father. She wasn’t cut for it. She saw how it picked off her family one by one leaving her and Seohyun alone in the world. To do this would only put her back into the hands of those who’d stripped them of everything.

Along with the promise to protect Seohyun came the promise of never returning. They went hand in hand. Because if Yoona messed up, if Yoona died, Seohyun would definity wither away from the heartache.

But was the risk worth it?

Yoona dragged the bag of money from beneath her bed and plopped it on the mattress. It was more than enough to keep Seohyun in the hospital for a few weeks. It was enough to cover medication for a few months. It was enough to make sure Seohyun was in the care of good hands for a while.

A while was all she needed.

The second half of the compensation would be enough for them to move again. They could start over. They could be free and Seohyun could get the treatment she really needed.

No more doctors.

No more scares.

No more negative reports.

It was that easy.

Tapping in the number, she held the phone against her ear.

A male voice chimed on the third ring. “Hi, thank you for calling Y&K, how may I help you?”

“I would like to speak with the Chairman?”

“Who’s calling?”

“Cho Yoorim.”

Yoona bit her lip, waiting in the silence until she heard,

“Please hold while we connect you.”

Seconds passed until a familiar voice hummed through the receiver. “Hello, Miss Im.”

“Thirty-five percent.”

Tiffany cleared her throat. “Miss Im, we-”

“Thirty. Final offer or I’m not doing it.”

The line was quiet a moment. “Twenty-five plus the information.”

“I said-”

“We’re willing to give you bi-weekly compensation to help you and your friend,” Tiffany offered. “Twenty-five, Miss Im. Take it or hang up.”

Yoona hesitated. She didn’t know why she was nervous. They needed her. She had the right to bargain.

“I want a life of silence after this,” she added on. “You never contact me again and my record is wiped clean.”

Immediately, "Done. Anything else?”

Yoona stared at the empty room across the hall. “I’ll do it.”

I'm super intrigued, gurl. Like I knew I'd be. Will Yoona join a ragtag team of criminals with twists and turns in every relationship? Oh please oh please oh pleaseeeee~

Have you ever watched 'Steel Magnolias'? Well, the scene of Yoona about to shower had me like, "Yikes, when she walks back in there, Seohyun's gonna be on the floor." CALLED IT. >:((( Dang, gurl. Take the money and regret shizz later. She's gonna need it. And WOW. What an advance. $$$

Tiffany's character is hot. That is all.

Yoona's feeling very badass. Can't wait to see more snippets of her past and THIS AWESOME FUTURE AHEAD. More interactions with Yuri soon? :333 And I'm quite curious about Seohyun and Yoona's tight relationship. :00 Oh man, I have so many theories and....CAN'T WAIT.

Thank youuuu for a new masterpiece~

Plot twist: Yuri's her cousin

YAAAS (01)!

YAAAAAAAAAS! I’ve been excited about this concept since you posted it. So stoked to see it come to life.

Dude! Yoona is a badass. Using her brains and beauty to drug clients and lift their wallets and identity to hack later. So smooth. AND DAAAAAAAMN it went straight into Madame Hwang holding her at gunpoint. That line about rough roleplay made me laugh.

And, oh Damn!!! Taking care of Seohyun and staying off the grid is Yoona's Boxx complex character motivation!! That flash of the accident and the little detail about them eating instant ramen made me feel the feels (and now I am preparing my heart for the future Boxxstompage XD). Also, not sure how to explain this exactly, but that flash was really nice to read. It had a really visual/movie feel to it -- like where people are doing random life stuff and they’re triggered by something and they lose themselves for a moment… Not sure if what I’m saying makes any sense, but basically just want to say that I really enjoyed reading that part.

(Also, nice tie into the logline!)

SEOHYUN!!!! NOOOOOOOOOO!!! I was not expecting her to faint at the stove and end up in the hospital. I thought they were going to have a nice lunch, but no… it was a setup for a Boxxpunch to the heart. It’s a good kind of hurt that i've come to enjoy.

Question time! Is The Heist going to be all Soshi or will there be some cross-over Kpop/Khip-hop cameos in this crew and from Yoona’s past? Does Yoong also regularly do the theft to lady-clients at work, too, or is Yul going to be her first? (BTW, I’m really looking forward to the smexy Yoonyul tension from the preview haha).

Thank you for starting this fic! I’m excited to see what happens next with Yoonh, her past, Seohyun, and the crew she’s now stuck with.

After I saw that yoona flower power gifset i kept thinking of a way to actually make that idea work. it took some time to formulate but it's here! It's been fun to write too. I miss this sort of action and drama.

Yoona and Tiffany have def been the funnest two to write so far lol. More interactions with them (cause im a lowkey yoonfany stan). And yes! I know exactly what you mean about the flash. I'm glad it made sense cause i was worried it would be confusing. lol nothing is nice in boxxworld. not even lunches hahaha

lol your questions. they'll all be answered in the next two chapters so I won't spoil you :P

Thanks for reading. I'll see you soon
